Fitz-Gerald Picks up PDA Endorsement

The local chapter of the Progressive Democrats of America has announced its support for former state Senate president Joan Fitz-Gerald in her run for Colorado's 2nd Congressional District.

More than two-thirds of chapter members endorsed Fitz-Gerald, making her eligible for a national endorsement from the group.

The Progressive Democrats of America chapter said it believes Fitz-Gerald has demonstrated the ability to be an effective legislator and that she is the best candidate to represent the district.

The 2nd Congressional District chapter of the group is the state's second formally constituted chapter.

It hosted a debate between the three leading Democratic candidates in the race -- Fitz-Gerald, Jared Polis and Will Shafroth -- last fall.
