Fitz-Gerald Reacts to Douglas Bruce
WESTMINSTER, Colo.—Senator Joan Fitz-Gerald, former President of the Colorado State Senate and a candidate for the Second Congressional District, made the following statement on KGNU in Boulder this morning on the show “How on Earth” with Tom McKinnon in reaction to the comments by Representative Douglas Bruce. Yesterday Rep. Bruce said we don’t “need 5,000 illiterate peasants”
“I repudiate the remarks of Douglas Bruce,” said Senator Fitz-Gerald. “His remarks were hurtful and bigoted to people who felt the sting of those words.” Fitz-Gerald also added, “There is no place where it is acceptable to divide people by race and class especially on the floor of the Colorado State House.”
